  1. Mysterious. Where it would be logical to believe the eye would be attracted to the detail of the branches, my mind is led to wonder more about what is in the unclear distance—to contemplate time rather than place. Like a Chinese watercolor.

  2. Yeah, to me the focal point of the picture is the barely visible path. The foreground branches help one perceive the differences in distance.

  3. Yes. I hope you’ve make a print of this. It would be beautiful to see without the glossy screen…

  4. Wondrous as well as portentous! What is looming there in that mist?

  5. I hope you mean “portentous” in the sense of ominous, not pompous!

  6. Interesting. I did not think this image was at all ominous!

    I find this photograph to be inviting;
the viewer/walker wants to move forward into that almost imperceptible place of pale light with the almost invisible [missing word here?- markers?? sticks?? leafless trees??? arghh] from a quiet, sleepy, and peaceful place.

It even shows/indicates a mysterious/indirect/unknown way to somewhere (sometime) where one could be in better future.

It looks as though one could move from a dark place to somewhere else, given enough time, sometime else in a brighter place.

    My depression talking?

  7. “Inviting” – I like that. Mysterious can very well be inviting instead of ominous. Depends on the person: to some mysterious means threatening, to others it means intriguing. I’m of the second kind.

(But, much as I’m flattered, I think we’re paying too much attention to a simple photo.)

  8. That surprises me about you not seeing it as inviting. Wanting to know what is next, …

    Won’t mention it again!

But. ummm… Well, my birthday is coming up, and in in lieu of chocolates, a print of this picture please!!!

  9. First, this is a color that I like a lot, and second, it has the same mystery that I saw in a poster I once had. That question: What’s beyond?

  10. @Lorna: Thanks! No answer to that question, hence the mystery. (In fact, I’ve always been thinking of the title as mYsty path…)

  11. way off-topic:
My brother’s last name begins with ‘T’ so he called his cat “Miss T.”

  12. The whole post is way off-topic, so by all means…

  14. You’ll notice that this site includes no contact form or other means of contacting me privately. So: off topic yes, off page no.

  15. Yes I did notice, so hence the question. Dryly, what I was interested in is definitely ‘off page. Thanks for your reply, had not expected one. Kind regards
